Planning application submitted for Ingenuity: Unlocking smarter city innovations

By White Rose Park January 2024

With the recent submission of the planning application for Ingenuity Leeds, a new era for smarter city development is set to begin.

Situated at White Rose Park, an innovative office campus owned by Munroe K, Ingenuity is expected to open its doors in early 2025. Spanning 1,500m2, it will stand as a dedicated space to pioneer future smarter city advancements and help to develop Leeds’ and the UK’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.

White Rose Park’s real-world living lab

Once built, this cutting-edge facility will feature flexible workspaces, modern meeting rooms and innovation labs tailored to meet the diverse needs of entrepreneurs and innovators.

Here, the region’s sharpest minds will converge to experiment, innovate, and tackle city challenges – ranging from energy to mobility to name a few.

White Rose Park will serve as a real-world testbed – a “living lab” – for piloting and testing new technologies, products, and innovative work methodologies in a controlled environment. From there, successful outcomes can be deployed across the city, wider region and beyond.

Smart Leeds: Achieving visions of a digital future

Beyond White Rose Park, our collaboration with Leeds City Council signal a broader vision.

Aiming to expand smarter city innovations across diverse areas in Leeds, Ingenuity aligns with the Smart Leeds initiative – a council-led programme aiming to bring new technologies, improve digital inclusion and enhance the city’s appeal for residents, workers, and visitors.

Alongside its role as an innovation hub, Ingenuity will help citizens learn and develop new skills.

Here, individuals can acquire new digital and entrepreneurial skills through partnership programmes, reinforcing Leeds City Council’s Inclusive Growth agenda – a commitment to ensure everyone can raise their skill levels, tackle digital exclusion and benefit from the advancements in our region.
