A Year at White Rose Park

By White Rose Park December 2022

As 2022 draws to a close and we start wrapping up another exciting year on-site, now’s the perfect time to go through a few of our favourite moments from 2022.

2022 saw many highlights, events, new partnerships and developments here at White Rose Park, and one of the key themes that underpinned our entire year was a focus on employee wellbeing, alongside much, much more.

So, with 2023 just around the corner, let’s get straight into this year’s highlights.

A timeline of 2022:

Our highlights from a busy year:

Welcome, NHS

At the very back end of 2021, we were delighted to confirm NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) would be joining us at the Park in our modern, high-spec office space at 1 Munroe Court. One of our most significant and exciting deals yet, we were proud to welcome such a transformative, leading organisation to the Park at the start of 2022 on a 10-year lease.

Stephen Sutcliffe, Director of Finance and Accounting at NHS SBS stating “Moving to the new White Rose Office Park supports our aim of promoting individual wellbeing and a better work-life balance”.  And to us, that perfectly summarises everything we’re trying to achieve here at White Rose Park.

And now that the first year of our partnership with the NHS is almost over, it confirms just how excited we are to see what the (many) following years will bring too.

Outdoor Training Park launch

After partnering with Outdoor Fitness Concepts (OFC) back in February of 2022, we were delighted to announce the official launch of the Outdoor Training Park in June – available exclusively to members of the White Rose Park community.

Kitted out with state-of-the-art, modern fitness facilities, the Training Park offers an all-year-round, all-weather fitness provision, completely free of charge for our community.

To commemorate the launch of the Training Park, we hosted a day of celebrations that included demonstrations of the equipment, free smoothies and healthy, tasty food, an exciting competition and even a Yogathon down at the Chelsea Garden.

Our core focus is on prioritising the wellbeing of our on-site community, and the launch of the Training Park propelled this notion to the forefront, offering everyone at the Park the opportunity to lead a healthier lifestyle without the fuss (and extra expense) of a gym membership.

Wellbeing classes and seminars

Coinciding with the Training Park launch, 2022 also saw the development of a regular programme of health and wellness activities for members of the Park. This encompasses group training sessions and yoga classes, alongside mental wellbeing seminars focused on topics such as preventing stress and burnout.

These programmes garnered a positive response all-round, offering the chance for everyone at the Park to step away from the desk, connect with other members of the community and do something that focuses on their own personal wellbeing, rather than their busy professional lives.

DAZN Pride Event

To celebrate Pride Month, we helped out our friends (and tenants) over at DAZN, global sports media giant, to organise an on-site event for everyone at White Rose Park.

With pizza, live music and more, the event was a huge success, offering the chance for our on-site community to connect and socialise, but to also celebrate and advocate for a crucial cause.

Embracing the sunshine

The British summertime came in full swing, bringing with it a national heatwave. And of course, we needed to make sure everyone on-site had somewhere to stroll, sit, and get some vitamin D – or shade away on hotter days – on their lunch break.

White Rose Park is full of green, natural spaces and walking paths, perfect for switching off from the screen. This year, we dotted deckchairs around the Park so people on-site have a spot to read, socialise or even sunbathe, alongside the new Wildflower Meadow.

Packed with flowers, greenery and nature, the Wildflower Meadow is a great place to breathe in the fresh air and clear your head.

Giving back to our community

After a few tumultuous years, it was essential for us to try and give back, in support of our community, our region and people all across the globe.

Our efforts included sponsoring the shirts for the local college and Beeston Juniors, as well as sponsoring the annual Christmas Lantern Festival, both of which allow our local community to thrive, and enjoy events that otherwise might have not been able to happen.

Similarly, we supported various causes across the year, such as the Yorkshire Children’s Charity and the Battle Scars charity, offering free access to our facilities for their meetings.

2022 also saw the conflicts in Ukraine, which required urgent support and aid from people all over the world. The entire White Rose community stepped up too, where we supported our friends over at Capita in their various fundraising and donation efforts, alongside The Yorkshire Deli on-site taking in donations to raise money for the urgent cause.

On track at the White Rose Railway Station

It’s full steam ahead at the White Rose Railway Station, which saw significant developments throughout the whole of 2022, thanks to the hard work from the Spencer Group team and many others involved.

Strongly committed to enhancing our connectivity links for our White Rose Park community, getting the station’s developments underway was one of our main priorities for the year. And luckily, it looks like we’re right on track for our grand opening in autumn 2023.

The new station will deliver an accessible, easy means of public transport for all the surrounding areas, providing a direct link to Leeds city centre in the matter of minutes (four minutes to be exact), and a route to Manchester in under an hour.

A streamlined, simpler and smoother way to commute is just around the corner…

Hello, 2023

And that’s a wrap for 2022 – it’s been a busy one!

Overall, it’s been a whirlwind of a year here at White Rose Park, and as always, we don’t expect 2023 to be any different.
